  Professional Career

  Mr. Akira Horimai is a senior manager of Corporate Planning Department of NTT Communications Corporation. As senior manager Akira directs Global Trade Services project to help exporters, importers, forwarders, and so on, produce paperless-documents electronically. Akira is also an author of “An Introduction to Trade and finance EDI” (2002) and “Internet Commerce” (2000) written in Japanese.

  He is a member of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, and an assistant secretary of the Institute. He researches on business models of Internet related businesses.

  Before joining NTT Communications Corporation, Akira was a general manager of system engineering department of Hitachi, Ltd. and also he was a member of ISO TC68 Japan Committee focused on financial transaction security. As general manager he directed system development projects of e-business utilizing Internet technologies such as secure electronic transactions.
